How to wear all white: 8 tips for pulling it off

How to wear all white

All-white outfits are perfect for summer parties or drinks with the girls to keep you looking fresh. The key is to keep outfits simple and minimalistic, but with eye catching detail.

TIP 1: Keep it interesting, but simple.
Try using different tones of white or different textured material to keep it from being too monotonous. Having detail on pieces helps make the outfit interesting too. Look for skirts and dresses with detailing at the hemline. See below for examples. Note the detail in the sweater and the textured skirt to create interest.

TIP 2: Make it your own.
If you feel uncomfortable wearing a completely white outfit, or feel you want more of your personality to come through, try adding colour through accessories such as a statement necklace, clutch or shoes.

TIP 3: Be careful with colour, keep it neutral.
Adding a huge pop of bright colour can make the outfit look 'tacky' so be careful, and stick to neutral tones like beige, cream and oyster. Try adding softer tones such as oyster colours or soft pastels like lavender.

TIP 4: Contrast.
Turquoise and gold accessories also looks great with white. This creates a nice contrast and keeps the outfit from being too dull or looking out of place. Showing some skin also helps to break the outfit up.

TIP 5: Accessories.
If you're wearing a simple, stylish piece, match it with a great pair of detailed heels or a clutch to keep it chic and avoid drawing all the attention away from a beautiful outfit.
If the outfit is casual, or very simple pair it with chunky accessories like a big bangle or a statement necklace. However, if the outfit is chic, stylish, for work or a formal/ish event, keep accessories minimal and classy, like a nice gold bracelet, rings, stunning earrings or even some pearls.

TIP 6: Use your assets.
If you want to keep the outfit very minimal, add a little something simply by styling your hair, adding a coloured pout, or making your eyes pop. You can do a black/charcoal smokey eye, but keep it subtle and don't go over-board or it can clash with your outfit. A chic gold/bronzey eye will give an all-white outfit that extra oomph!

TIP 7: Metallic
White goes great with metallic shades. So glitz it up with sexy metallic heels, jewellery or clutch.

TIP 8: Keep it casual with brown and neutral
If your outfit is casual, try pairing it with a brown waist belt, neutral wedges or platforms.

Rottnest Island

I recently went for a four day holiday in Australia's own little island paradise, Rottnest Island. Rottnest is easily my favourite place, although I haven't even been out of Australia yet so I'm sure that will change (hopefully some day soon!)
Anyway, I thought I would share my favourite outfit from my stay.

What to pack for travelling in summer:

  • Pack pieces you can layer for cooler nights (especially because mosquitos will often be out to play!) For example;  Cardigans, maxi dresses/skirts
  • Items that are light, but will still protect you from the sun (eg light material sleeved tops, button up shirts)
  • Something you can easily take from day to night, eg a simple black maxi you can dress up with a statement necklace or a nice top you can wear with a day maxi skirt or with shorts at night. I wore this skirt with a black top to take it from day to night
  • A trusty backpack to lug around your daily travelling essentials eg a waterbottle, sunscreen, wallet, camera etc
  • A fabulous hat that will actually protect you from the sun.
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Bug spray!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a fabulous start to 2014 and are already making headway with your resolutions.

My New years resolution is, among other things, to start my very own fashion blog. Truthfully, I have been pondering the idea for years and it has been somewhere unreachable on my to do list for quite some time. I have always adored fashion and my cupboards are overflowing with Cosmos, Cleos, Vogues, Glamours and several other fabulous sources of inspiration. The idea of starting a fashion blog has just seemed out of reach and life has continued to get in the way. But, I have decided to no longer put something so dear to my heart on the back burner, 2014 is the year for great things! Starting with my favourite things in the world, style, beauty, writing and other beautiful things.

Please bear with me as I begin the challenging task of making my dreams come true. I hope you enjoy my first post and follow me on my journey of the things and I love and self-discovery, and I can assure you that the following posts will be much better!

Much love and well wishes for the new year ahead!
Flossy xx
